Dr. Phil D. Wann is professor and chair of psychology at Missouri Western State University. He earned his B.A. at the University of Missouri-Columbia and his M.A. and Ph.D. in physiological psychology from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Wann is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, and the Council on Undergraduate Research.

Dr. Wann frequently contributes to teaching conferences and routinely involves undergraduate students in his research on the neuropsychology of learning and memory. His research on the scholarship of teaching has been recognized with outstanding paper awards from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology and the Council of Undergraduate Psychology Teachers. He has also received the Missouri Western Distinguished Faculty Award (2003), Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1993), MWSU Excellence in Teaching of Critical Thinking Award (2008), Jesse Lee Myer’s Excellence in Teaching Award (1990 and 1993), and the Burlington Northern Foundation Faculty Achievement Award (1988).

For his work with student organizations, Dr. Wann received the Psi Chi Honor Society Midwest Region Faculty Advisor Award (2004) and was recently named the 2009 Advisor of the Year by the MWSU Student Government Association. He has been a Faculty Consultant for Psi Chi since 2000 and served as Associate Editor for the Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research from 2002-05.
